dc.description.abstract |
The research described the interpersonal meaning used in the interaction between a
female (woman) leader toward her employees which was reflected in the use of the sorts of
speech functions and the realization forms of the speech function. This research was the
critical discourse analysis of cross-genders, since the analyses discussed the differences
among the genders, and saw how the differences influenced on the interpersonal relation.
CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis) aimed to expose the role of discourse practice in order to
sustain the social relations.
The data were taken from the participant observation of a home industry led by a
woman. The data were then analyzed by emphasizing on the discourse as an essential social
practice involving the power relations formed by the social structure and other social practice.
In this research the orientation was focused on systemic functional grammar (clause as
exchange) stressing on the use of the speeches in the interaction. The results showed that a
woman in taking her role as a leader tended to maintain her basic principles in a
communication, by building the closeness, giving support and avoiding conflicts. |
