SMAN 4 Cimahi is a a civil high school has the fifth rank of six civil high schools in Cimahi. Most of students consider SMAN 4 as the second choice to have school. From the interview and observation, social studies (IPS) students of SMAN 4 Cimahi obtain negative label from around society of Cimahi. They are famous with their juvenile delinquency. And even more passive, lower performance and study interest than science studies (IPA) students in SMAN 4 Cimahi. However, there are 26 students of IPS students who joined non-curricular competition and obtained appreciation as the champion. From the interview it is known that the IPS students appraise themselves having beneficial and vaaluable potency. And it is called self esteem in psychology theory. The objective of the study is to provide information to school staffs, students themselves, and their parents about self esteem of non-curricular performance students in order that school teachers and parents can maintain and stimulate their competence and worthiness; self esteem aspect. The method used is descriptive study with 26 students as the sample. The instrument used is a questionnaire arrange by the researcher based on self esteem theory of Christoper J. Mruk. The reability of of self esteem instrument is 0.941. The results show that there are 66% of non-curricular performance IPS students in SMAN 4 Cimahi have high self esteem. |

SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi merupakan SMA Negeri yang menduduki peringkat kelima dari enam SMA Negeri di Kota Cimahi. Banyak siswa menjadikan SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi sebagai sekolah pilihan kedua. Dari hasil wawancara dan observasi, siswa IPS di SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi mendapatkan label kurang positif dari masyarakat sekitar Kota Cimahi. Siswa IPS di SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi terkenal akan tindak kenakalan remaja. Dibandingkan dengan siswa IPA di dalam lingkungan SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi pun, siswa IPS ini lebih pasif, kurang berprestasi, dan memiliki minat belajar yang rendah. Namun terdapat 26 orang siswa IPS gemar mengikuti kompetisi non kurikuler dan mendapatkan penghargaan sebagai juara. Dari hasil wawancara diketahui bahwa siswa-siswi tersebut menilai bahwa dirinya memiliki potensi yang bisa dimanfaatkan dan merasa dirinya berharga. Dalam teori psikologi fenomena tersebut dinamakan Self Esteem. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memberikan informasi kepada pihak sekolah, siswa sendiri dan orang tua mengenai gambaran self esteem siswa berprestasi non kurikuler sehingga pihak sekolah dan orang tua mampu memelihara keadaan yang dapat menggugah competence dan worthiness siswa, yaitu aspek dari Self Esteem. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi deskriptif dengan subjek sebanyak 26 siswa. Alat ukur penelitian menggunakan kuesioner yang disusun oleh peneliti berdasarkan teori self esteem Christopher J. Mruk. Reliabilitas alat ukur self esteem sebesar 0,941. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sebanyak 66% siswa kelas XII IPS di SMA Negeri 4 Cimahi yang berprestasi non kurikuler memiliki Self Esteem yang tinggi. |
