dc.description Abstract. Methanil yellow is a prohibited food additive in food product, so there should be a tool that can detect methanil yellow in food products. This research aims to make accurate, sensitive, selective and stable methanil yellow strip detector. This strip detector was made from cellulose Acetate Membrane that was impregnated by HCl 1 N reagent using plastic map plate. After those process the strips detector packed using plastic laminated alumunium foil. The strip was than being tested to detect methanil yellow content in the tofu sample and a life time test was conducted on the strips for 30 days. The standard lowest detection limit of the strips also being was 6 ppm. The life time test in alumunium foil laminated plastic packaging material showed that the strip detector were stable until day of 24 days.Keyword: Methanil yellow, Cellulose Acetate Membran, Strip test, Alumunium foil Abstrak. Methanil yellow merupakan bahan tambahan pangan (BTP) yang dilarang penggunaannya dalam suatu produk makanan sehingga perlu adanya alat yang dapat mendeteksi methanil yellow dalam produk makanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuat alat carik deteksi yang akurat, sensitif, selektif dan stabil dalam mendeteksi methanil yellow. Alat carik deteksi ini dibuat dari matriks Membran Selulosa Asetat yang diimpregnasi dengan pereaksi HCl 1 N 10 ml, serta menggunakan map plastik sebagai penyangga alat carik uji. Setelah itu alat carik uji dikemas menggunakan bahan alumunium foil laminasi plastik. Alat carik ini diujikan untuk mendeteksi kandungan methanil yellow dalam sampel tahu dan dilakukan uji lifetime pada alat carik selama 30 hari. Batas deteksi terendah alat yang didapat sebesar 6 ppm. Uji lifetime dalam kemasan alumunium foil laminasi plastik menunjukan bahwa alat uji carik stabil hingga hari ke-24.Kata Kunci: Methanil yellow, Membran selulosa setat, Uji Carik, Alumunium foil
