dc.description Abstrak. Penelitian ini mengenai film yang merupakan salah satu bentuk komunikasi massa. Film adalah media yang memiliki pengaruh cukup kuat terhadap sudut pandang, asumsi, persepsi, tingkah laku, sistem sosial di dalam masyarakat. Tanpa disadari bahwa apa yang disajikan dalam tiap wacana, terselip sebuah tanda, simbol-simbol dan ideologi yang secara tidak langsung memengaruhi ke dalam diri seorang penikmatnya. Seperti dalam film serial The Publicist yang di sutradarai oleh Monty Tiwa, alih-alih sebagai hiburan, terselip makna-makna dan simbol serta idelogi dalam beberapa scene yang merepresentasikan bagaimana karakter peran Public Relations Officer dalam film, sebagai representasi yang diknstruksikan oleh sebuah media massa.Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui dan memberitahukanbagaimana sebuah tanda, simbol dan ideologi disampaikan dalam sebuah adegan di film The Publicist, berdasarkan hal tersebut maka penulis menganalisis masalah tersebut melalui beberapa unsur yaitu realitas, representasi dan ideologi yang menunjukan bagaima representasi sebuah karakter dalam film yang dikonstruksikan oleh media massa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan penelitian semiotika. Data yang di peroleh didapatkan melalui wawancara beberapa sumber seperti pengamat film, pekerja film, dan juga seorang public relations officer profesional.Selain itu data diperolehmelalui studi kepustakaan, Internet searching dan observasi. Kata kunci : Representasi Public Relations Officer, Film serial, The Publicist , Analisis Semiotika, John Fiske.Abstract. The film is a form of mass communication. Film is a medium that has a  strong influence towards point of view, the assumption, perception, behavior, social systems within the community. Unwitting that what is presented in each discourse, tucked into a sign, symbols and ideology that indirectly influence into a consumer demand. As in the film series The Publicist who directed by by Monty Tiwa in, rather than as entertainment, tucked into the meanings and symbols as well as idelogi in some scene that represents how the character role of Public Relations Officer in the film, as a representation of the diknstruksikan by a mass media.The goal of the research is to find out and tells how a sign, symbol and ideology conveyed in a scene in the film, The Publicist, the author based on analyzing the problem through some elements that is the reality, representation and ideology that shows the hows representation of a character in the film is constructed by the mass media. The methods used in this research is qualitative research methods with the study of semiotics. Data obtained through interviews obtained by some sources as an observer of the movie, the filmmakers, as well as a public relations officer of the professional. In addition data obtained through the study of librarianship, Internet searching and observation. Key words : Representations of Public Relations Officer, Film series, The Publicist, Semiotics Analysis, John Fiske.
