dc.description Abstract. The Post (2017) is a Hollywood film by Steven Spielberg about the history of The Washington Post’s fenomenal coverage on Pentagon Papers. Not only about the ideal work of The Washington Post journalist, the film also showed the media company's business dilemma behind the publication. In addition to be a ‚watchdog‘, the press also has economic and self-help functions. The purpose of this study is to map the story of media business and the idealism of The Washington Post journalist in The Post based on Tzvetan Todorov's modified-by Nick Lacey narrative structure model. Using the qualitative methodology of the narrative analysis, the researcher found that the five stages of narrative structure were fulfilled in the media business narrative in The Post, incoherently though, with a disruption to begin the narration. Whereas for The Washington Post journalist’s idealism narrative in The Post, no equilibrium stage was found throughout the structure, which began with a disruption instead. Repetitive patterns that showed the relationship between keywords and sentences, as well as the relationship between each stages, was also found; thus forming a dramatical chronology of the media business and the journalist’s idealism narratives.Keywords: Media Business, Journalist Idealism, Narrative Analysis.Abstrak. The Post (2017) merupakan film Hollywood garapan Steven Spielberg dengan latar sejarah surat kabar The Washington Post saat menerbitkan berita mengenai Pentagon Papers. Tidak hanya tentang kerja ideal jurnalis The Washington Post, film tersebut juga menunjukkan dilema bisnis perusahaan media di balik publikasinya. Selain menjalankan fungsi kontrol (watchdog), pers juga memiliki fungsi ekonomi dan swadaya untuk dilaksanakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan memetakan pengisahan bisnis media dan idealisme jurnalis The Washington Post dalam film The Post berdasarkan model struktur narasi Tzvetan Todorov yang dimodifikasi Nick Lacey. Dengan menggunakan metodologi kualitatif analisis naratif, peneliti menemukan bahwa pada narasi bisnis media dalam film The Post, kelima tahapan struktur narasi terpenuhi meski tidak runut, dengan narasi yang diawali oleh gangguan. Sedangkan pada narasi idealisme jurnalis The Washington Post, ditemukan bahwa tahap keseimbangan tidak tersedia dalam struktur narasi tersebut, serta narasi diawali oleh gangguan. Ditemukan pula pola pengulangan yang menunjukkan hubungan antar-katakunci dan kalimat kunci, juga hubungan antara satu tahapan dengan yang lain, sehingga membentuk kronologi pengisahan bisnis media dan idealisme jurnalis yang dramatis.Kata Kunci: Bisnis Media, Idealisme Jurnalis, Analisis Naratif.
