Abstract. One criterion of the metabolic syndrome is hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia is a condition of blood sugar levels higher than normal values. Zingiber officinale rosc is known to contain flavonoid compounds which are thought to have antihiperglycemic properties and can inhibit increased blood sugar levels. This study was conducted to determine the effect of giving the Zingiber officinale rosc water fraction to blood sugar levels in male old mice who had been given high-fat food. This experimental study used 15 old male mice (45-49 weeks) which were divided into 5 groups. Positive control was given standard feed and fraction solvent, the negative control was given high fat and fraction solvents, group 1 was given Zingiber officinale rosc fraction 995 mg/kgBB/day, group 2 was given Zingiber officinale rosc fraction 1,990 mg/kgBB/day , and group 3 was given Zingiber officinale rosc fraction of 3,980 mg/kgBB/day. The treatment was carried out for 28 days. The average results of blood sugar levels were not significantly different (p> 0.05).Keywords: glucose level, metabolic syndrome, zingiber officinale rosc fraction Abstrak. Salah satu kriteria dari sindrom metabolik adalah hiperglikemi. Hiperglikemi merupakan keadaan kadar gula dalam darah lebih tinggi dari nilai normalnya. Jahe gajah diketahui mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang diduga memiliki sifat antihiperglikemik dan mampu menghambat peningkatan kadar gula darah. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian fraksi air jahe gajah terhadap kadar gula darah pada mencit tua jantan yang telah diberi makanan tinggi lemak. Penelitian eksperimental ini menggunakan 15 ekor mencit jantan tua (45-49 minggu) yang terbagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Kelompok kontrol positif diberikan pakan standar dan pelarut fraksi, kelompok kontrol negatif diberikan pakan tinggi lemak dan pelarut fraksi, kelompok perlakuan 1 diberikan fraksi air jahe gajah 995 mg/kgBB/hari, kelompok perlakuan 2 diberikan fraksi air jahe gajah 1.990 mg/kgBB/hari, dan kelompok perlakuan 3 diberikan fraksi air jahe gajah 3.980 mg/kgBB/hari. Perlakuan dilakukan selama 28 hari. Hasil rerata kadar gula darah tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p > 0,05). Kata Kunci : fraksi air jahe gajah, kadar gula darah, sindrom metabolik.
