Effectiveness of Poster and Animation as Handwashing Educational Media on Elementary School Students

dc.description Hand washing is one of the indicator in Clean and Healthy Living Behavior that must be applied in educational institution. Unfortunately, Hand washing application in Indonesia is still low. It is proved by average proportion of Indonesian citizen over 10 years old is 47%. Giving education to students can increase their knowledge about proper hand washing. To make this education become effective we must use the right media. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of poster and animation as media for health education to improve their knowledge about hand washing. This study was applied elementary school students that were divided randomly into poster intervention group and animation intervention group. Each group were given questionnaire as pretest and posttest and the average score difference will be compared. This study use dependent t test, Wilcoxon test, and independent t test. Result of statistic test shows there was no significant knowledge difference between before and after health education using poster (p=0,10) but there was a significant increasing of score between before and after health education using animation (p=0,00).Meanwhile, there were no significant score increasing difference between poster and animation intervention group (p=0,39). The conclusion is there was no difference in effectiveness between education using poster and animation about hand washing in elementary school students.
dc.description Cuci Tangan Pakai Sabun (CTPS) merupakan salah satu indikator Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) yang harus diterapkan di intitusi pendidikan. Rendahnya perilaku CTPS di Indonesia ditunjukkan dengan rata-rata proporsi penduduk umur 10 tahun keatas yang melaksanakan CTPS dengan benar di Indonesia sebesar 47%. Pemberian edukasi dalam bentuk penyuluhan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa/i mengenai CTPS. Pemilihan media yang tepat diperlukan untuk menghasilkan penyuluhan yang efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas media poster dan animasi sebagai media penyuluhan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa/i mengenai CTPS. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa sekolah dasar yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok secara random menjadi kelompok intervensi poster dan animasi. Setiap kelompok diberi kuisioner sebagai pretest dan posttest. Rata-rata peningkatan nilai kedua kelompok dibandingkan. Pengujian dilakukan dengan uji t berpasangan, uji Wilcoxon, dan uji t tidak berpasangan. Hasilnya menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan pengetahuan yang bermakna pada kelompok intervensi poster (p=0,10) namun terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan yang bermakna pada kelompok intervensi animasi (p=0,00). Antara kelompok intervensi poster dengan kelompok intervensi animasi tidak terdapat perbedaan peningkatan pengetahuan yang bermakana (p=0,39). Kesimpulan dari penelitian inni tidak ada perbedaan efektivitas antara penyuluhan mengunakan media poster dan media animasi mengenai CTPS pada siswa sekolah dasar.
