// Abstract.Typhoid fever in children is an infectious disease caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. According to WHO it is estimated that there are around 21 million cases and 222,000 deaths related to typhoid fever each year. The purpose of this study is to describe the signs and symptoms of typhoid fever in pediatric patients. This research was carried out by descriptive observational with cross sectional design using medical record data of typhoid fever patients in Al-Ihsan General Hospital in 2017. Data collection and processing were taken by systemic random sampling fulfilling inclusion and exclusion criteria, 79 people were taken from the data. From the results of this study it was found, that the age most affected by typhoid fever is age 5-10 years, symptoms found fever (100.0%), vomiting (50.6%), nausea (49.4%), abdominal pain (31.6%), cough (13.9%), constipation (7.6%), runny nose (7.6%), headache (6.3%), diarrhea (5.1%), pain swallowing (2.5%), joint pain (2.5%), and decreased appetite (1.3%), whereas the signs found were, fever (100.0%), epigastric tenderness (96.2 %), typhoid tongue (7.6%), anemia conjunctiva (2.5%), hepatomegaly (1.3%), lymphadenopathy (1.3%), and no one experiencing rose spot. In pediatric patients diagnosed with typhoid fever <5 years of age, specific symptoms and signs are found, namely diarrhea, while the age of children to adults is found with specific symptoms and signs of constipation. In typhoid fever there are no specific symptoms and signs based on age, but signs and symptoms of typhoid fever are found to be fever. This is due to various signs and symptoms of typhoid fever, making it difficult to determine the diagnosis.. Keywords: typhoid fever, symptoms, signs Abstrak. Demam tifoid pada anak merupakan penyakit infeksi yang diakibatkan oleh bakteri Salmonella typhi. Menurut WHO diperkirakan sekitar 21 juta kasus dan 222.000 kematian terkait demam tifoid pada setiap tahunnya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran tanda dan gejala demam tifoid pada pasien anak. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara observasional deskriptif dengan rancangan cross sectional menggunakan data rekam medik pasien demam tifoid di RSUD Al-Ihsan tahun 2017. Pengumpulan dan pengolahan data diambil secara sistemic random sampling memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi, data diambil sebanyak 79 orang. Dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan ini ditemukan, bahwa usia yang paling banyak terkena demam tifoid yaitu usia 5-10 tahun, gejala yang ditemukan demam (100,0%), muntah (50,6%), mual (49,4%), nyeri perut (31,6%), batuk (13,9%), konstipasi (7,6%), pilek (7,6%), sakit kepala (6,3%), mencret (5,1%), nyeri menelan (2,5%), nyeri sendi (2,5%), dan nafsu makan turun (1,3%), sedangkan tanda yang ditemukan yaitu, demam (100,0%), nyeri tekan epigastrik (96,2%), tifoid tongue (7,6%), konjungtiva anemia (2,5%), hepatomegali (1,3%), limfadenopati (1,3%), dan tidak ada yang mengalami rose spot. Pada pasien anak yang didiagnosis demam tifoid usia <5 tahun ditemukan gejala dan tanda yang khusus yaitu diare, sedangkan usia anak sampai dengan dewasa ditemukan gejala dan tanda yang khusus yaitu konstipasi. Pada demam tifoid tidak ada gejala dan tanda yang spesifik berdasarkan usia, tetapi tanda dan gejala pada demam tifoid ditemukan demam. Hal ini dikarenakan tanda dan gejala demam tifoid yang bermacam-macam sehingga sulit untuk menentukan diagnosis. Kata kunci : demam tifoid, gejala, tanda |
