Abstract. The United Nations Fund (UNICEF) states that low birth weight is a major factor in increasing mortality, morbidity and disability of neonatus, infants and children also provides a long increase in their lives in the future. The West Java Provincial Health Office stated that LBW in West Java was 2.2%. This can caused stunted on babies which causes brain function will be inhibited one of which cognitive function. Cognitive function assessment can be carried out among others by examining the Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE). This research studies to determine the cognitive relationship with low birth weight. The trial was an observational analytic study and used a cross-sectional trial. The data was taken as many as 60 grade IV students of SDN Citapen in Tasikmalaya City Academic Year 2019/2020. The results of this study found that most of the fourth grade students of Citapen State Elementary School in Tasikmalaya City in the 2019/2020 Academic Year included in the normal category, 13% of students with LBW, and there is not correlation were found between cognitive function with low birth weight (P = 0, 59). The cognitive function of children born with the LBW edition can be as children without the LBW edition if supported by positive environmental factors.Keywords : Cognitive, MMSE, Low Birth WeightAbstrak. United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) menyatakan berat bayi lahir rendah termasuk faktor utama dalam peningkatan mortalitas, morbiditas, dan disabilitas neonatus, bayi dan anak serta memberikan dampak jangka panjang terhadap kehidupannya di masa depan. Dinas Kesehatan provinsi Jawa Barat menyatakan BBLR di Jawa Barat adalah sebesar 2,2%. Hal tersebut dapat menyebabkan pertumbuhan bayi menjadi terhambat yang menyebabkan fungsi otak akan terhambat salah satunya adalah fungsi kognitif. Penilaian fungsi kognitif dapat dilakukan antara lain dengan pemeriksaan Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan fungsi kognitif dengan riwayat berat bayi lahir rendah. Uji penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional dan menggunakan pendekatan uji potong lintang. Data diambil sebanyak 60 Murid kelas IV SDN Citapen Kota Tasikmalaya Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan sebagian besar fungsi kognitif murid kelas IV Sekolah Dasar Negeri Citapen Kota Tasikmalaya Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020 termasuk kategori normal, 13% Murid dengan riwayat BBLR, dan tidak ada hubungan antara fungsi kognitif dengan riwayat berat bayi lahir rendah (P=0,59). Fungsi kognitif anak yang lahir dengan riwayat BBLR dapat seperti anak tanpa riwayat BBLR bila didukung faktor lingkungan yang positif.Kata Kunci: Kognitif, MMSE, BBLR |
