Abstract. The incidence of stroke due to hypertension in Indonesia is quite high based on the results of basic health research from 2013 to 2018 from the original 25.8% to 34.1%. Adherence to taking medication can help successfully deal with hypertension and prevent complications of stroke. Adherence to taking medication is still considered low because hypertension treatment takes a long time and is carried out for life, so many patients stop treatment when they feel better. This study aims to determine the relationship of medication adherence of hypertensive patients with the incidence of stroke in Al-Ihsan District Hospital, West Java Province in 2019. The method used was an observational analytic test using a case-control study design, with 92 respondents who were consisting of 46 stroke patients with a history of hypertension and 46 non stroke patients with a history of hypertension, adherence to taking hypertension medication was assessed using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire. The results showed that more than half (58.7%) of stroke patients at Al-Ihsan District Hospital in West Java Province were categorized as having low adherence to taking medication. The results of the chi square analysis showed no significant relationship between adherence to taking hypertension medication with the incidence of stroke in Al-Ihsan District Hospital, West Java Province (p = 0.6). The conclusions of this study indicate that there is no significant relationship between adherence to taking hypertension medication with the incidence of stroke in Al-Ihsan Regional Hospital in West Java Province in 2019.Keywords: Stroke, adherence to take medication, hypertensionAbstrak. Kejadian stroke akibat hipertensi di Indonesia cukup tinggi berdasarkan hasil Riset kesehatan dasar dari tahun 2013 sampai dengan tahun 2018 dari awalnya 25,8% menjadi 34,1%. Kepatuhan minum obat dapat membantu keberhasilan penanganan hipertensi serta pencegahan timbulnya komplikasi stroke. Perilaku kepatuhan minum obat dinilai masih rendah karena pengobatan hipertensi membutuhkan waktu yang lama dan dilakukan seumur hidup, sehingga banyak pasien yang berhenti berobat ketika merasa membaik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kepatuhan minum obat pasien hipertensi dengan kejadian stroke di RSUD Al-Ihsan Provinsi Jawa Barat periode 2019. Metode yang digunakan adalah uji analitik observasional dengan menggunakan desain studi kasus-kontrol (case-control study), dengan 92 responden yang terdiri dari 46 responden pasien stroke dengan riwayat hipertensi dan 46 responden pasien non stroke dengan riwayat hipertensi, kepatuhan minum obat hipertensi dinilai menggunakan kuesioner Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari setengah (58.7%) pasien stroke di RSUD Al-Ihsan Provinsi Jawa Barat dikategorikan memiliki kepatuhan yang rendah minum obat. Hasil analisa uji chi square tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara kepatuhan minum obat hipertensi dengan kejadian stroke di RSUD Al-Ihsan Provinsi Jawa Barat (p=0.6). Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara kepatuhan minum obat hipertensi dengan kejadian stroke di RSUD Al-Ihsan Provinsi Jawa Barat periode 2019.Kata Kunci: Stroke, kepatuhan minum obat, hipertensi |
