Abstract. Gout arhtritis is a disease caused by elevated levels of serum uric acid and deposition of serum uric monosodium crystals in joints. Selfmedication is an effort to treat a disease without presciptions which can be more affordable for the people. This research aimed to observed selfmedication behavior to treat gout arthritis by the community in the sub-district of Arjasari Bandung, the kind a drug used, the frequency of drug used, the source of the drug, the side effects of the drug, and the reasons for using the drug. This research was non experimental study with the data obtained from 50 respondents. The data were cultivated and recapitulated in the table and accounted as percentage of every parameters. The results showed that the drug that most frequent to use in selfmedication for gout arthritis therapy was allopurinol by 68% of respondents. As many as 62% of respondents used the drug everytime the pain was felt. All respondents stated did not feel any side effects after using the drugs, and that most of respondents accepted the drug from pharmacy (66%). Respondents did the selfmedication for the reason that it can be more simple (44%).Keywords: Gout Arthritis, Selfmedication, Allopurinol Abstrak. Gout Arthritis merupakan penyakit yang terjadi akibat peningkatan kadar asam urat serum sehingga terjadi deposisi kristal monosodium urat di persendian. Swamedikasi merupakan upaya pengobatan yang dilakukan sendiri dan dapat dijadikan alternatif yang diambil masyarakat untuk meningkatkan keterjangkauan pengobatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku swamedikasi penggunaan obat untuk terapi gout arthritis pada masyarakat di wilayah Kecamatan Arjasari Kabupaten Bandung, mencakupi obat yang digunakan, frekuensi penggunaan obat, sumber obat, efek dari penggunaan obat, serta alasan penggunaan obat tersebut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian non eksperimental dengan metode survey, dimana data langsung diperoleh dari 50 responden. Data yang diperoleh diolah dan dibuat rekapitulasi dalam sebuah tabel dan dihitung persentase dari tiap pertanyaan. Hasil menunjukan bahwa obat yang banyak digunakan pada swamedikasi untuk terapi gout arthritis yaitu Allopurinol yang digunakan 68% responden. Kemudian frekuensi atau waktu penggunaan obat yang paling banyak dipilih yaitu setiap kali terasa nyeri oleh 62% responden. Semua responden menyatakan tidak merasakan efek samping apapun setelah penggunaan obat, serta sumber diperolehnya obat yang paling banyak yaitu apotek (66%). Alasan melakukan swamedikasi yang paling banyak dipilih responden yaitu pengobatan mandiri dirasa lebih praktis (44%).Kata kunci : Gout Arthritis, Swamedikasi, Allopurinol |
