Abstract. In Sufi order (tarekat), Islam-Sufi is the practice of Islam that is bound in the teacher-student relationship. Can Islam-Sufi be implemented in universities? The study aims to examine the effectiveness of the madhhab typology learning models (Islam-Sufi and Islam-Syari’at) to improve the understanding and tolerance of madhhab among students. This research uses the R&D approach. The initial stage of testing the limited model at Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA) and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). The results of the study show that the learning model of madhhab typology is effective in increasing students’ understanding and tolerance of the diversity madhhabs. Before lecturing, students looked at Sufism as foreign entity influenced by non-Islamic teaching. But after lectures (six times meetings), they mostly accepted and argued that Sufism had a strong basis from the Quran, the Sunnah, and the practice of pious Ulamas. |
