Abstract. The existence of MSMEs is undoubtedly because they are able to survive and become an economic driver, especially after the economic crisis. In the economic crisis, MSMEs were able to survive, even though many large companies had laid off large numbers of people and went bankrupt. Approximately 98% of MSMEs are classified as potential micro businesses that can increase into small businesses. The challenge for entrepreneurship development is mainly in the aspect of capital so that they need to be brought closer from the side of capital. One of the sectors that is expected to have a big share in the aspect of financing is the existence of Islamic financial institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to know how the role of Islamic financial institutions in providing capital to MSMEs. This study aims to determine the role of Islamic financial institutions in providing capital to MSMEs. This research method uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results show that the role of Islamic financial institutions in providing capital to MSMEs is still less or not maximally carried out by Islamic banking when compared to conventional banking, however, Islamic microfinance institutions are better at providing capital to MSMEs compared to conventional microfinance institutions. Keywords: Islamic Financial Institutions, Capital, UMKM Abstrak. Eksistensi UMKM tidak diragukan lagi karena mampu bertahan dan menjadi penggerak ekonomi terutama pasca krisis ekonomi. Pada krisis ekonomi UMKM mampu bertahan, padahal banyak perusahaan besar melakukan PHK dalam jumlah besar dan mengalami kebangkrutan. Sekitar 98% UMKM tergolong usaha mikro potensial yang dapat meningkat menjadi usaha kecil. Tantangan bagi pengembangan kewirausahaan yang terutama adalah pada aspek modal sehingga mereka perlu didekatkan dari sisi permodalannya. Salah satu sektor yang diharapkan mempunyai andil besar terhadap aspek pembiayaan adalah keberadaan lembaga keuangan syariah. Oleh karena itu, perlu diketahui bagaimana peran lembaga keuangan syariah terhadap pemberian modal kepada UMKM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran lembaga keuangan syariah terhadap pemberian permodalan kepada UMKM. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran lembaga keuangan syariah terhadap pemberian modal pada UMKM adalah masih kurang atau belum maksimal dilakukan oleh perbankan syariah jika dibandingkan dengan perbankan konvensional, akan tetapi lembaga keuangan mikro syariah sudah lebih baik dalam memberikan modal kepada UMKM dibandingkan dengan lembaga keuangan mikro konvensional.
