Abstract. In an effort to build relationships with other people, self-disclosure has an important role in the continuity of a relationship. Self-openness exists when there is a sense of interpersonal trust that makes them believe in sharing information about themselves with others. In the online dating phenomenon, uncertainty often arises so that it can affect the interpersonal trust and self-disclosure of its users. The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical data regarding the relationship between interpersonal trust and self-disclosure of students using the Tinder application in Bandung. This study uses a correlational method with 147 respondents. The measuring instrument used is the Trust Scale compiled by Rempel, et al. (1985) to measure Interpersonal trust and the Revised Self disclosure Scale compiled by Wheeles adapted from Ables (2013) to measure self-disclosure. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling with student subjects in the city of Bandung. The analysis technique used in this study is the rank spearman. The correlation value obtained is 0.433 and the significance value of the correlation coefficient r is 0.000. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between interpersonal trust and self-disclosure with moderate relationship strength. These results indicate that the higher the interpersonal trust, the higher the level of self-disclosure.Keywords : Interpersonal trust, self-disclosure, students who use the Tinder applicationAbstrak. Dalam upaya membangun suatu hubungan dengan orang lain, keterbukaan diri memiliki peran penting dalam kelangsungan suatu hubungan tersebut. Keterbukaan diri hadir muncul ketika adanya rasa kepercayaan antar pribadi yang membuat mereka percaya untuk membagikan informasi mengenai dirinya kepada orang lain. Dalam fenomena kencan online, ketidakpastian kerap kali muncul sehingga dapat mempengaruhi interpersonal trust dan self disclosure para penggunanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan data empiris mengenai hubungan antara interpersonal trust dengan self disclosure mahasiswa pengguna aplikasi Tinder di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional dengan jumlah responden 147 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Trust Scale yang disusun oleh Rempel, dkk (1985) untuk mengukur Interpersonal trust dan Revised Self disclosure Scale yang disusun oleh Wheeles yang diadaptasi dari Ables (2013) untuk mengukur self disclosure. Teknik sampling yang digunakan penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling dengan subjek mahasiswa di Kota Bandung. Teknik analisis yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah rank spearman. Nilai korelasi yang didapatkan yaitu 0,433 dan nilai signifikansi dari koefisien korelasi r adalah 0.000. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara interpersonal trust dengan self disclosure dengan kekuatan hubungan yang sedang. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tinggi interpersonal trust, maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat self disclosure.Keywords : Interpersonal trust, self disclosure, mahasiswa pengguna aplikasi Tinder |
