Abstract. Lip scrub is a semi-solid dosage form that contains rather coarse material to remove dead skin cells on the lips. Dry lips and chapped lips occur due to dehydration, dry environment, and a person's habit of licking the lips so that they can form a layer of keratin that peels on the surface of the lips. This non-experimental study aims to determine the effect of coffee grounds and coffee extracts for lip health and can design a good lip scrub formula for lips by utilizing coffee extracts and coffee grounds. From the results of literature studies, it can be seen that coffee grounds can be used as scrubs or scrubbing because they have a rough texture and are easily removed when rubbed to remove dirt and dead skin cells. Arabica coffee extract is known to have antioxidant activity so that it can provide a protective effect from free radicals when applied to the lips. Coffee extracts and pulp can be used as active ingredients for lip scrub preparations with auxiliary ingredients such as alba Cera, oleum cacao, and nipagin.Keywords: Lip Scrub, Chapped Lips, Arabica Coffee Extract, Arabica Coffee Grounds.Abstrak. Lip scrub merupakan bentuk sediaan setengah padat yang mengandung bahan agak kasar untuk mengangkat sel kulit mati pada bibir. Bibir kering dan bibir pecah-pecah terjadi akibat dehidrasi, lingkungan kering, dan kebiasaan seseorang dalam menjilat bibir sehingga dapat membentuk lapisan keratin yang mengelupas pada bagian permukaan bibir. Penelitian non eksperimental ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek dari ampas kopi dan ekstrak kopi untuk kesehatan bibir dan dapat merancang formula sediaan lip scrub yang baik untuk bibir dengan pemanfaatan ekstrak kopi dan ampas kopi. Dari hasil studi literatur dapat diketahui ampas kopi dapat dijadikan sebagai lulur atau scrubbing karena memiliki tekstur yang kasar dan mudah lepas ketika digosokkan sehingga dapat mengangkat kotoran dan sel kulit mati . Ekstrak kopi arabika diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sehingga mampu memberikan efek perlindungan dari radikal bebas ketika di aplikasikan pada bibir. Ekstrak dan ampas kopi bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan aktif bagi sediaan lip scrub dengan bahan pembantu seperti alba cera, oleum cacao, dan nipagin.Kata kunci : Lip Scrub, Bibir Pecah-Pecah, Ekstrak Kopi Arabika, Ampas Kopi Arabika. |
