Description:
Abstract. Insurance is an agreement between two parties, where the first party is referred to as the insurer or the insurance company and the second party is referred to as the insured or policy holder who will file an insurance claim. The existence of a large or extreme claim from a non-life insurance policy affects the insurance company's ability to estimate reserves. This research has explored several heuristic methods for selecting threshold values that serve to estimate reserves as well as the effect on distribution choices. To investigate this, several heuristic methods have calculated the threshold values, namely the fixed quantile rule, the square root rule and the empirical rule. The data used is data obtained from the general insurance company PT. XYZ 2014. The data contains policyholder partial loss claims for comprehensive insurance products for category 6 motorized vehicles (types of trucks & pickups) region 2 covering DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten. The results show that if the data are sufficient, the square root rule has the best overall performance in estimating claims reserves with a threshold value of 65.575.000.Keywords: Non-life Insurance, Threshold, Heuristik MethodeAbstrak.
