Abstract. The research entitled “Media Advocacy in the Reporting of the Novel Baswedan Case in Online Media Detik.com and CNNIndonesia.com" aims to find out how online media detik.com and CNNIndonesia.com frame the news on the Novel Baswedan case in terms of: (1) syntax, (2) script, (3) thematic, and (4) rhetorical. This study used a qualitative method with the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki framing analysis approach. The framing analysis of Zhondang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki defines framing as a construction strategy in the reporting process. Cognitive devices are used to encode information, interpret events and link it to routine and news formation conversions. This research resulted in several conclusions: (1) Syntactically, detik.com news and CNNIndonesia.com news compile news with the choice of title words, headlines and quotes that represent sympathy for Novel Baswedan as a victim of hard water attack by police officers. (2) In a script, the first news of detik.com misses how the incident happened (how). The second news, detik.com, did not mention where the event occurred (where). CNNIndonesia.com's first news release also missed when the event took place (when). (3) Thematic. Both detik.com news and CNNIndonesia.com use the coherence words for explanatory “who” and “and” which refer to the important things discussed. (4) Rhetorically, detik.com news uses idioms. CNNIndonesia.com news tends not to use special idioms to describe events in news.Keywords: Media Advocacy, Framing Analysis, Detik.com, and CNNIndonesia.com.Abstrak. Penelitian berjudul “Advokasi Media dalam Pemberitaan Kasus Novel Baswedan di Media Online Detik.com dan CNNIndonesia.com” bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana media online detik.com dan CNNIndonesia.com membingkai berita kasus Novel Baswedan ditinjau dari sisi: (1) sintaksis, (2) skrip, (3) tematik, dan (4) retoris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis framing Zhongdang Pan dan Gerald M. Kosicki. Analisis framing Zhondang Pan dan Gerald M. Kosicki mendefinisikan framing sebagai strategi konstruksi dalam proses pemberitaan. Perangkat kognisi yang digunakan dalam mengkode informasi, menafsirkan peristiwa dan dihubungkan dengan rutinitas dan konversi pembentukan berita. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa kesimpulan: (1) Secara sintaksis, berita detik.com dan berita CNNIndonesia.com menyusun berita dengan pemilihan kata-kata judul, headline, dan kutipan yang merepresentasikan rasa simpati kepada Novel Baswedan selaku korban penyerangan air keras oleh oknum kepolisian. (2) Secara skrip, berita pertama detik.com luput mencantumkan bagaimana peristiwa tersebut terjadi (how). Berita kedua detik.com luput mencantumkan di mana peristiwa tersebut terjadi (where). Berita pertama CNNIndonesia.com pun luput mencantumkan kapan peristiwa berlangsung (when). (3) Secara Tematik. Baik berita detik.com dan CNNIndonesia.com lebih banyak menggunakan kata koherensi penjelas “yang” dan “dan” yang merujuk kepada hal penting yang dibahas. (4) Secara retoris,beritadetik.com menggunakan idiom-idiom. Berita CNNIndonesia.comcenderung tidak meggunakan idiom khusus untuk menggambarkan peristiwa dalam berita.Kata Kunci: Advokasi Media, Analisis Framing, Detik.com, dan CNNIndonesia.com. |
