Abstract. This study aims to determine auditors 'perceptions of auditor responsibility, accounting students' perceptions of auditor responsibility, and to examine whether there are differences between auditors 'and accounting students' perceptions of the expectation gap in the issue of auditor responsibility. The population in this study were external auditors and accounting students who had taken the audit course, in taking the sample using a purposive sampling method.The research data uses primary data, with data collection techniques using a questionnaire method which is distributed via google form and directly. The sample in this study amounted to 72 respondents consisting of 30 auditor respondents and 32 student respondents. Hypothesis testing in this study uses non-parametric testing with the test Mann-Whitney which is processed using the SPSS 23 application. From the results of the tests conducted, it shows that there is no significant difference or expectation gap. between auditors and accounting students regarding the issue of auditor responsibility.It is suggested for further research to use different variables such as users of financial statements and also increase the reach of the research population.Keywords: Accounting Students, Auditor, Auditor Responsibility, Expectation Gap, PerceptionAbstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi auditor terhadap tanggung jawab auditor, persepsi mahasiswa akuntansi terhadap tanggung jawab auditor, dan mengkaji apakah terdapat perbedaan antara persepsi auditor dan mahasiswa akuntansi terhadap expectation gap dalam isu tanggung jawab auditor. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah auditor eksternal dan mahasiswa akuntansi yang telah mengambil mata kuliah audit, dalam pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling.Data penelitian menggunakan data primer, dengan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode kuesioner yang disebar melalui google form dan secara langsung. Sampel pada penelitian ini berjumlah 72 responden yang terdiri dari 30 responden auditor dan 32 responden mahasiswa. Pengujian hipotesis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pengujian non parametrik dengan uji Mann-Whitney yang diolah menggunakan aplikasi SPSS 23. Dari hasil pengujian yang dilakukan, menunjukkan hasil bahwa tidak terjadi perbedaan atau expectation gap yang signifikan antara auditor dan mahasiswa akuntansi mengenai isu tanggung jawab auditor.Disarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat menggunakan variabel yang berbeda seperti pemakai laporan keuangan dan juga menambah jangkauan populasi penelitian.Kata Kunci: Auditor, Expectation Gap, Mahasiswa Akuntansi, Persepsi, Tanggung Jawab Auditor
