Abstract. The prevalence of epilepsy cases in Indonesia reaches up to 8.2 per 1000 population with an incidence reaching 50 per 100,000 population in Indonesia, as many as 1.8 million epilepsy patients need treatment. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of epilepsy patients in terms of age, gender, etiology, causative factors, patient occupation, patterns and types of anti-epileptic drug use. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. Data was taken through the medical records of inpatient epilepsy at RSUD Al-Ihsan Bandung for the period 2018-2019. The sample of this study was 105 epilepsy patients. The results showed that the highest age was at <17 years old as many as 73 people (69.53%). The most gender was male, 54 people (51.43%). The etiology that was often found in the patients was idiopathic 87 people (82.86%). The causative factors possessed by the patient were in the form of febrile seizures as many as 45 people (42.86%), and epilepsy patients who did not have a job as many as 73 people (69.53%). The pattern of using anti-epileptic drugs with monotherapy was 67 patients (63.80%). The type of anti-epileptic drug most often used was valproic acid in 34 people (32.38%). The characteristics of epileptic patients at the Al-Ihsan Hospital in 2018-2019 generally show a picture of the age of children, male sex, due to idiopathic, causative factors with febrile seizures, not having a job, and using a monotherapy treatment pattern with valproic acid as a type. major anti-epileptic drugs. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran karakteristik pasien epilepsi ditinjau dari usia, jenis kelamin, etiologi, faktor penyebab, pekerjaan pasien, pola dan jenis penggunaan obat anti epilepsi. Penelitian ini merupakan studi deskriptif dengan desain potong lintang. Data diambil melalui rekam medik pasien epilepsi rawat inap di RSUD Al-Ihsan Bandung periode tahun 2018-2019. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 105 pasien epilepsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan usia terbanyak tertinggi pada usia <17 tahun sebanyak 73 orang (69,53%). Jenis kelamin yang terbanyak pada laki-laki 54 orang (51,43%). Etiologi yang sering ditemukan pada pasien adalah idiopatik 87 orang (82,86%). Faktor penyebab yang dimiliki pasien berupa kejang demam sebanyak 45 orang (42,86%), dan pasien epilepsi yang tidak mempunyai pekerjaan sebanyak 73 orang (69,53%). Pola penggunaan obat anti epilepsi dengan monoterapi sebanyak 67 pasien (63,80%). Jenis obat anti epilepsi yang paling sering digunakan adalah asam valproat sebanyak 34 orang (32,38%). Karakteristik pasien epilepsi di RSUD Al-Ihsan tahun 2018-2019 umumnya memperlihatkan gambaran pada usia anak-anak, berjenis kelamin laki-laki, disebabkan idiopatik, faktor penyebab dengan kejang demam, tidak mempunyai pekerjaan, dan menggunakan pola pengobatan monoterapi dengan asam valproat sebagai jenis obat anti epilepsi yang utama. Karakteristik pasien epilepsi di RSUD Al Ihsan tahun 2018-2019 hampir tipikal dengan karakteristik pasien epilepsi di berbagai senter kesehatan epilepsi yang lain namun pada pekerjaan terdapat perberbedaan kemungkinan dikarenakan data epidemiologi pasien epilepsi khususnya dari daerah Jawa Barat berbeda dengan daerah lain.Kata kunci: Epilepsi, karakteristik, obat anti epilepsi
