Abstract. Overweight and obesity are abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that can cause various diseases and disrupt health. One of the factors causing excessive body weight and obesity is low physical activity. Walking is a physical activity that is often and always done every day and has the benefits of calories that walk on weight loss. This study aims to know the correlation the number of steps with body mass index (BMI) in FK Unisba students. This research was a cross sectional study. The research data was taken by observation using a step counter application (pedometer-step counter) on the smartphone of each respondent and filling in the google form. The subjects in the study were 32 healthy FK Unisba students in the academic year 2020-2021 with a BMI ≥18.5. Data were analyzed using the Spearman test. From the observation result, it was found that the average number of steps was 1300.25 steps per day which were classified as less moving. Based on the BMI category according to WHO, the proportions were normal, overweight and obese, respectively, namely 53.1%, 31.3%, and 15.6%. From the results of the analysis, it was found that there was a relationship (p=0.015) with a moderate display (r=0.426) between the number of steps and BMI in FK Unisba students in the academic year 2020-2021. This study found that the average number of steps correlated or not correlated with the BMI of FK Unisba students. Therefore, FK Unisba students are expected to be more physically active, one of which is by walking.Keywords: physical activity, application, body weight, walking, obesityAbstrak. Kelebihan berat badan dan obesitas merupakan penumpukan lemak abnormal atau berlebihan yang dapat menimbulkan berbagai penyakit dan mengganggu kesehatan. Salah satu faktor penyebab berat badan berlebih dan obesitas adalah aktifitas fisik yang rendah. Berjalan kaki merupakan salah satu aktivitas fisik yang sering dan selalu dilakukan setiap hari dan memiliki manfaat untuk kalori yang berdampak pada penurunan berat badan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat korelasi jumlah langkah dengan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) pada mahasiswa FK Unisba. Penelitian ini menggunakan analitik observasional dengan metode potong lintang. Data penelitian diambil secara observasi dengan menggunakan aplikasi penghitung langkah (pedometer-stepcounter) pada smartphone masing-masing responden dan pengisian google form. Subjek pada penelitian adalah mahasiswa FK Unisba tahun akademik 2020-2021 yang sehat dengan IMT >18,5 sejumlah 32 orang. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi spearman. Dari hasil observasi didapatkan rerata jumlah langkah sebesar 1300.25 langkah per hari yang tergolong kurang gerak. Berdasarkan kategori IMT sesuai WHO maka proporsi normal, berat badan lebih dan obesitas secara berurutan yaitu 53,1%, 31,3%, dan 15,6%. Dari hasil analisis didapatkan adanya hubungan signifikan (p=0.015) dengan korelasi sedang (r=0.426) antara jumlah langkah dengan IMT pada mahasiswa FK Unisba tahun akademik 2020-2021. Simpulan penelitian ini terdapat korelasi antara rerata jumlah langkah dengan IMT pada mahasiswa FK Unisba. Oleh karena itu mahasiswa FK Unisba diharapkan lebih aktif secara fisik salah satunya dengan berjalan kaki.Kata kunci: aktifitas fisik, aplikasi, berat badan, jalan kaki, obesitas
