Abstract. Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. At this time adolescents experience psychological and physical changes. Body changes that occur trigger teenagers to pay attention to physical appearance. Teenagers are competing to be able to satisfy their appearance in various ways to hide unwanted or unwelcome changes that can cause dissatisfaction with their bodies. Those who are not satisfied with their bodies tend to have body image a negative. They consider that their appearance is not attractive and often compares their bodies with others. The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical data about the image of body image in early adolescents at MTs Negeri 6 Subang. The method used is descriptive method with a population of 93 people. Data collection was carried out using the Multi dimensional body self relations questionnaire (MBSRQ) which was the standard measuring tool of thetheory body image by Cash (2002). Based on the results of data processing the results obtained from 93 people there were 70 students (75.3%) had body image a negative. This means that as many as 70 students considered that his appearance was not attractive and felt dissatisfied with his body. The most influential factor causing teenagers to have body image a negativeis social media. From social media they get the ideal body image circulating in the community, so that body incompatibility with ideal body standards creates feelings of dissatisfaction with teenagers.Keywords: Body image, Early Youth, Social Media.Abstrak. Masa remaja merupakan masa peralihan dari kanak-kanak ke masa dewasa. Pada masa ini remaja mengalami perubahan psikologis dan fisik. Perubahan tubuh yang terjadi memicu remaja memperhatikan penampilan fisik. Remaja berlomba-lomba untuk dapat memuaskan penampilan mereka dengan berbagai cara untuk menyembunyikan perubahan-perubahan yang tidak diinginkan atau tidak disukai yang dapat menimbulkan ketidakpuasan terhadap tubuhnya. Mereka yang tidak puas terhadap tubuhnya cenderung memiliki body image yang negatif. Mereka menilai bahwa penampilan mereka tidak menarik dan sering membanding-banding tubuh mereka dengan orang lain. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk memperoleh data empiris mengenai gambaran body image pada remaja awal di MTs Negeri 6 Subang. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan jumlah populasi 93 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan Multi dimensional body self relations questionnaire (MBSRQ) yang merupakan alat ukur baku dari teori body image oleh Cash (2002). Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data didapatkan hasil dari 93 orang terdapat 70 orang siswa (75,3%) memiliki body image yang negatif. Hal tersebut mengartikan bahwa sebanyak 70 orang siswa menilai bahwa penampilan dirinya tidak menarik dan merasa tidak puas terhadap tubuhnya. Faktor yang paling berpengaruh menjadi penyebab remaja memiliki body image yang negatif adalah media sosial. Dari media sosial mereka mendapatkan gambaran tubuh ideal yang beredar di masyarakat, sehingga ketidak sesuaian tubuh dengan standar tubuh ideal menimbulkan perasaan tidak puas terhadap remaja.Kata Kunci: Body image, Remaja Awal, Media Sosial. |
