Abstract. Film soap is a thin sheet shaped soap made of film forming and plasticizer. In this study, HPMC and sodium alginate were used as film forming in the dosage forms of film soap. While the extract of peanut shells (Arachis hypogaea L.) containing polyphenols, tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids compound is used for antibacterial substance. This study is aimed to determine the presence or absence of antibacterial activity of extracts of peanut shells against Propionibacterium acnes and compare between the physical characteristics of film soap using HPMC and sodium alginate as film forming. The physical characteristics of the dosage forms evaluated included organoleptic, weight uniformity, thickness, dissolution time, moisture content, pH, free alkali, height and stability of foam in water and hard water. The antibacterial activity of peanut shell extract (0,2%) showed inhibition diameter at 1,15 ± 0,21 mm, a formula with a concentration of 3,5% HPMC provides the best physical characteristics in terms of organoleptic, with an average weight of 0,183 ± 0,024 grams, thickness of 0,36 ± 0,078 mm, dissolution time of 55,5 ± 0,71 seconds, pH 10,076, moisture content of 18,71%, free alkali of 0,064%, stability of foam in aquadest was 2,84 cm and foam stability in hard water was 1,91 cm.Keywords: film soap, soap, Arachis hypogaea L., Propionibacterium acnes.Abstrak. Film soap adalah sabun berbentuk lembaran tipis yang terbuat dari film forming dan plasticizer. Pada penelitian ini HPMC dan natrium alginat digunakan sebagai film forming pada sediaan film soap. Sedangkan ekstrak kulit luar kacang tanah (Arachis hypogaea L.) yang mengandung seyawa golongan polifenol, tanin, flavonoid, dan alkaloid sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak kulit luar kacang tanah terhadap Propionibacterium acnes serta membandingkan karakteristik fisik film soap dari HPMC dan natrium alginat sebagai film forming. Karakteristik fisik sediaan dievaluasi meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptik, keseragaman bobot, ketebalan, waktu larut, kadar air, pH, alkali bebas, tinggi dan stabilitas busa dalam aquadest dan air sadah. Aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak kulit luar kacang tanah (0,2%) menunjukkan diameter hambat sebesar 1,15±0,21 mm, formula dengan konsentrasi 3,5% HPMC memberikan karakteristik fisik yang paling baik dari segi organoleptis, dengan bobot rata-rata 0,183±0,024 gram, ketebalan 0,36±0,078 mm, waktu larut 55,5±0,71 detik, pH 10,076, kadar air 18,71%, alkali bebas 0,064%, stabilitas busa dalam aquadest 2,84 cm dan stabilitas busa dalam air sadah 1,91 cm.Kata Kunci: film soap, sabun, Arachis hypogaea L., Propionibacterium acnes.
