Abstract. Sometimes film assumed by people as only a medium of entertaint, but actually film is one of the medium that can be use to tell a message or an information with a different way from any kind of visual medium and film can also give the audiences a different experience which so memorable. In any kind of film there is a mean that can be catched by the audience. Mean is what we interpret and purpose. “The Night Come for Us” is a 2018 Indonesian action-thriller film that showed a lot of sign of violence in every scene.Violence is a wrong action and can cause a physical and mental damage. There are two kind of damage, physical and psychological. The purpose of this research is how “The Night Come for Us” film describe the meaning of sign of violence with semiotics method which study about signs. Theory that used in this research is television codes by John Fiske with researching from three levels such as reality level, representation level, and ideology level. Researcher resulting a description of meaning from sign of violence on “The Night Come for Us” film where we can find a lot of sign of violence in every scene.Keywords : The Night Come for Us film, Meaning, Violence, Television Codes by John Fiske.Abstrak. Film terkadang dianggap hanya sebagai media hiburan, namun sebenarnya film merupakan salah satu media yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan sebuah pesan atau informasi dengan cara yang berbeda dari media visual lainnya dan film memberikan pengalaman yang sangat berkesan. Pada setiap film terdapat sebuah makna yang bisa dipecahkan oleh penontonnya sendiri. Makna adalah apa yang diartikan atau dimaksud oleh kita. Film The Night Come for Us yang baru rilis pada tahun 2018 ini merupakan film bergenre action-thriller yang di mana pada film bergenre tersebut terdapat banyak sekali tanda kekerasan di setiap adegannya. Kekerasan merupakan tindakan yang salah dan dapat menyebabkan kerusakan fisik maupun mental pada orang lain. Kekerasan ada dua jenis, kekerasan fisik dan psikologis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah bagaimana penggambaran makna tanda kekerasan dalam film The Night Come for Us dengan menggunakan metode semiotika, yaitu suatu ilmu yang mengkaji tanda-tanda. Teori yang digunakan adalah kode-kode televisi John Fiske. Dengan meneliti tiga level yaitu, level realitas, level representasi dan level ideologi, peniliti menghasilkan penggambaran makna tanda kekerasan dalam film The Night Come for Us yang di mana terdapat banyak sekali tanda-tanda kekerasan pada scene-scene-nya.Kata Kunci : Film The Night Come for Us, Makna, Kekerasan, Kode-kode Televisi John Fiske. |
