Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease which is the most occurs in old age. Risk factors that affect joint damage to OA include obesity, mechanic stress, and age. In Indonesia, the incidence of OA by age is quite high at 5% at age <40 years, 30% at age 40-60 years, 65% in old age> 61 years. In the city of Bandung, from a study conducted at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in the 2003-2005 range, the incidence of OA reached 69% of all existing rheumatic diseases. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of Body Mass Index (BMI) to knee OA occurrence at Al-Ihsan public hospital, district of Bandung. This study uses qualitative analytic observation method and cross sectional study design to assess the role of risk factor of BMI on the occurrence of OA in rheumatology and nerve polyclinic of Al-Ihsan public hospital, Bandung regency. The sampling techniques use interviews and also body weight and body height measurements. Research subjects were taken by consecutive sampling method based on the order of patients who came and fulfilled the inclusion criteria as well as exclusion. The data analysis used is chi square test because independent variable and categorical bound variable with 95% confidence. The results showed a significant relationship between BMI on knee OA occurrence with P = 0,000 (P <0,05) and caused by adiponectin which is synthesized by adipose tissue and probably caused by mechanic stress. |

Osteoartritis (OA) merupakan suatu penyakit sendi degeneratif yang paling sering terjadi pada usia tua. Faktor risiko yang mempengaruhi kerusakan sendi pada OA diantaranya adalah obesitas, stres mekanis, dan usia. Di Indonesia, kejadian OA berdasarkan usia yaitu 5% pada usia < 40 tahun, 30% pada usia 40 - 60 tahun, 65% pada usia tua > 61 tahun. Pada penelitian di RS Hasan Sadikin Kota Bandung tahun 2003-2005, kejadian OA mencapai 69% dari semua penyakit reumatik yang ada. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) terhadap kejadian OA lutut di RSUD Al-Ihsan Kabupaten Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi analitik kualitatif dan rancangan studi cross sectional untuk menilai peran faktor risiko IMT terhadap OA lutut di poliklinik reumatologi dan saraf RSUD Al-Ihsan Kabupaten Bandung. Subjek penelitian diambil dengan metode consecutive sampling berdasarkan urutan pasien yang datang dan memenuhi kriteria inklusi juga eksklusi. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan wawancara, pengukuran berat badan juga tinggi badan. Analisis data menggunakan chi square test dengan kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan bermakna antara IMT terhadap kejadian OA lutut dengan nilai P = 0,000 (P < 0,05) karena erat hubungannya dengan adiponektin yang dihasilkan jaringan adiposa dan dapat juga disebabkan stres mekanis. |
