Abstract. Currently, there are many types of research on internal factors that influence Student Engagement in Indonesia. However, studies on external factors that influence Student Engagement in tertiary institutions are still minimal in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an influence of the Class Climate felt by students on Student Engagement. The hypothesis in this study is that there is an influence between the Class Climate on Student Engagement in students of the Islamic University of Bandung. The subjects in this study were students of the Bandung Islamic University class of 2017 - 2019, totaling 368 people. The measuring tool used to measure Classroom Climate is the Colleges and Universities Classroom Environment Inventory (CUCEI) developed and adapted by Hadiyanto, 2017. Meanwhile, to measure Student Engagement using the Engaged Learning Index (ELI) measurement tool developed by Schreiner, 2011 and adapted by Sinambela, 2018. The results of the data analysis obtained sig. equal to 0,000 and H_0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of Classroom Climate on Student Engagement on students at the Islamic University of Bandung and the amount of influence is 18.2%.Keywords: Class Climate, Student EngagementAbstrak. Saat ini penelitian mengenai faktor-faktor internal yang mempengaruhi Student Engagement di Indonesia sudah banyak dilakukan. Namun studi mengenai faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi Student Engagement di perguruan tinggi masih minim dilakukan di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh dari Iklim Kelas yang dirasakan mahasiswa terhadap Student Engagement. Hipotesis pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh antara Iklim Kelas terhadap Student Engagement pada mahasiswa Universitas Islam Bandung. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Islam Bandung angkatan 2017 – 2019 yang berjumlah 368 orang. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk mengukur Iklim Kelas adalah Colleges and Universities Classroom Environment Inventory (CUCEI) yang dikembangkan dan diadaptasi oleh Hadiyanto, 2017. Sedangkan untuk mengukur Student Engagement menggunakan alat ukur Engaged Learning Index (ELI) yang dikembangkan oleh Schreiner, 2011 dan diadaptasi oleh Sinambela, 2018. Hasil analisis data diperoleh nilai sig. sebesar 0,000 dan ditolak. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh Iklim Kelas terhadap Student Engagement pada mahasiswa di Universitas Islam Bandung dan besarnya pengaruh sebesar 18.2%.Kata Kunci: Iklim Kelas, Student Engagement |
