dc.description Abstract. Indonesia has a very abundant biodiversity. One of the biodiversity that is useful in treating diseases is derived from the theaceae family such as puspa (Schima wallichi) (DC) Korth and tea (Camellia sinensis L). Both plants are empirically used to treat wounds and acne. This study aims to determine the secondary metabolite compounds contained in puspa and tea plants and to determine the antibacterial activity of the two plants. The research method used is in the form of a literature study by examining the antibacterial activity of puspa and tea plants against bacteria acne, namely Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acne with the antibacterial activity testing method used is the diffusion method so that it is well and discs. The results of the study indicated that the metabolites contained in puspa and tea plants were flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, monoterpenoids and steroids. The test for the antibacterial activity of the puspa leaf ethanol extract was effective in inhibiting the growth of the Staphylococccus aureus bacteria, the water extract of tea leaves was effective in inhibiting the growth of the Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria and the ethyl acetate fraction was effective in inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acne bacteria.  Keywords: Puspa, Tea, Antibacterial, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acneAbstrak. Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang sangat berlimpah. Salah satu keanekaragaman hayati yang bermanfaat dalam mengobati penyakit berasal dari famili theaceae seperti tanaman puspa (Schima wallichi) (DC) Korth dan teh (Camellia sinensis L).  Secara empiris kedua tanaman tersebut digunakan untuk mengobati luka dan jerawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui senyawa metabolit sekunder yang terkandung pada tanaman puspa dan teh serta mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari kedua tanaman tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan berupa studi pustaka dengan mengkaji aktivitas antibakteri dari tanaman puspa dan teh terhadap bakteri penyebab jerawat yaitu Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis dan Propionibacterium acne dengan metode pengujian aktivitas antibakteri yang digunakan adalah metode difusi agar cara sumuran dan cakram. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa senyawa metabolit yang terkandung pada tanaman puspa dan teh adalah flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, tanin , monoterpenoid dan steroid. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun puspa efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri staphylococccus aureus, ekstrak air daun teh efektif menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri staphylococcus epidermidis dan fraksi etil asetat efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri propionibacterium acne.    Kata kunci: Puspa, Teh,  Antibakteri, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acne
