Abstract. The employee of food & beverage unit as responsible for food stock at Sari Ater Hotel & Resort, are people who had background education according to his current job and have a working period of 3 to 7 years. However the ungood work process which come from sudden order still a reason that the employee can’t be optimal on work. Ungood working process show teh ungood communication. The purpose of this research is to obtain the empirical data about how close the relationship between interpersonal communication and work satisfaction. This research using quantitative approach with correlational method. The data collection techniques using questionnaires refer to Joseph A Devito’s theory for interpersonal communication while job satisfaction refer to Porter’s theory and given to 41 employees of food and beverage unit. In data processing, this research using Rank Spearman’s correlation test. Based on the results of statistical calculations obtained data that there is a positive relationship between interpersonal communication with job satisfaction correlation coefficient value of 0.421 that mean the less effective the interpersonal communication the lower job satisfaction of employees of food & beverage unit.Keyword : Interpersonal Communication, Job Satisfaction, Discrepancy TheoryAbstrak. Pegawai unit food & beverage sebagai yang bertanggung jawab atas ketersediaan makanan di Sari Ater Hotel & Resort, merupakan orang-orang yang latar belakang pendidikannya sesuai dengan pekerjaannya sekarang serta memiliki masa kerja selama 3 sampai 7 tahun. Namun, proses kerja yang tidak baik akibat dari pesanan mendadak masih menjadi alasan para pegawai ini bekerja tidak optimal. Proses kerja yang tidak baik menunjukkan komunikasi yang terjalin tidak baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ingin memperoleh data empiris mengenai seberapa erat hubungan antara komunikasi interpersonal dengan kepuasan kerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang mengacu pada teori Joseph A Devito untuk komunikasi interpersonal sedangkan kepuasan kerja mengacu pada teori Porter dan diberikan kepada 41 orang pegawai unit food & beverage. Dalam pengolahan data, penelitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi Rank Spearman. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan statistik diperoleh data bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara komunikasi interpersonal dengan kepuasan kerja dan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0.421 yang artinya semakin tidak efektif komunikasi interpersonal maka semakin rendah kepuasan kerja pegawai unit food & beverage.Kata Kunci : Komunikasi Interpersonal, Kepuasan Kerja, Discrepancy Theory |
