Abstract. Diabetes is one of the most dangerous non-contagious diseases in the world. Individuals who are diagnosed with this disease often find it difficult to accept and adapt to the disease. Diabetes is a disease that will suffer for life. Social support from family, spouse, or friends plays an important role in motivating patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus to follow treatment (adhere). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support with adherence behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Talaga Bodas Public Health Center Bandung. Samples in this study as many as 32 patients suffering from Diabetes Mellitus type 2. The method used in this study is correlational. The data in this research is using a constructed questionnaire about social support based on Sarafino theory (2011) and for adherence behavior, the measurement is using The Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) with the theory explained according to World Health Organization (2003). The results showed that there was a very significant positive relationship between social support and adherence (r = 0.758) which means there is a strong positive relationship between social support and adherence behavior.Keywords: Social Support, Adherence, Diabetes Mellitus 2Abstrak. Diabetes termasuk salah satu penyakit tidak menular paling berbahaya di dunia. Individu yang didiagnosis menderita penyakit ini tidak jarang merasa sulit menerima dan beradaptasi dengan penyakitnya. Diabetes adalah penyakit yang akan diderita seumur hidup. Dukungan sosial baik dari keluarga, pasangan, atau teman sangat berperan penting untuk memotivasi pasien penderita diabetes mellitus tipe 2 dalam mengikuti pengobatan (adhere). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keeratan hubungan antara dukungan sosial dengan perilaku adherence pada pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2 di Puskesmas Talaga Bodas Bandung. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 32 pasien yang menderita Diabetes Mellitus tipe 2. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner mengenai dukungan sosial yang dibuat oleh peneliti berdasarkan teori Sarafino (2011) dan untuk perilaku adherence, pengukuran menggunakan alat ukur dari Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) dengan teori yang dijelaskan menurut World Health Organization (2003). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang sangat signifikan antara dukungan sosial dengan adherence (r=0,758) yang artinya adanya hubungan positif yang erat antara dukungan sosial dengan perilaku adherence.Kata Kunci: Dukungan Sosial, Perilaku Adherence, Diabetes Mellitus 2 |
