SMAN 1 Purwakarta provides an excellent class establishment program (CI) for students who have IQ score ± more than130 (gifted). The class consists of 31 students. It is created to enrich knowledge about appropriate school and university subjects. The focus of this program is material broadening and deepening of the material and is not learning time speed in the classroom. Alot of demand causes 4 students quit. In order to hold the program out, the students have to have high persistence. The persistence (Grit) is the theory developed by Angela Duckworth (2007). The objective of this study is to obtain empirical data about persistence image (grit) and to find external factors that influence it, and that is social support. The method used here is descriptive study. The grit measurement tool used in this study is two dimensions of Angela Duckworth grit theory; consistency of interest and preseverance of effort. Social support measurement tool used in this study is 5 aspects of social support theory Sarafino (1994); emotion support, reward, instrumental, information and social network. The results show that 8 students have the lowest grit and 23 students have high grit. The students with low grit have low instrumental support from their parents. For 23 students with high grit have high social support from their parents. |

SMAN 1 Purwakarta mengadakan kelas Cerdas Istimewa (CI) program pengayaan untuk siswa yang memiliki IQ ± 130 keatas (gifted). Siswa dikelas ini berjumlah 31 orang. Kelas ini dirancang untuk dapat memperkaya pengetahuan tentang mata pelajaran di sekolah menengah dengan mata kuliah di perguruan tinggi yang sesuai. Fokus layanan pada program belajar ini adalah pada peluasan atau pendalaman materi yang dipelajari dan bukan pada kecepatan waktu belajar dikelas. Banyaknya permasalahan tuntutan belajar menyebabkan 4 orang siswa mundur. Agar dapat bertahan didalam program pengayaan ini siswa membutuhkan kegigihan yang tinggi. Kegigihan (grit) adalah teori yang dikembangkan oleh Angela Duckworth (2007). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data empiris mengenai gambaran kegigihan (grit) dan untuk mengetahui faktor eksternal apa saja yang dapat mempengaruhi grit yaitu dukungan sosial. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah studi deskriptif. Alat ukur yang digunakan pada penelitian ini, untuk alat ukur grit diturunkan melalui dua dimensi dari teori grit Angela Duckworth, yaitu Konsistensi Minat (Consistency of interest) dan Kegigihan dalam Berusaha (Perseverance of effort). Sedangkan untuk alat ukur dukungan sosial diturunkan melalui 5 aspek dukungan sosial dari teori dukungan sosial Sarafino (1994), yaitu dukungan emosi, penghargaan, instrumental, informasi dan jaringan sosial.. Hasil penelitian didapatkan sebanyak 8 siswa memiliki gritrendah dan 23 siswa memiliki grit tinggi. Siswa yang memiliki grit rendah ini mendapatkan dukungan instrumental yang rendah dari orang tuanya. Untuk 23 siswa yang memiliki grit tinggi mendapatkan dukungan sosial yang tinggi dari orang tuanya. |
