Abstract. Bandung City is one of the cities with the most neglected elderly social problems in West Java. The tresna werdha social institution or nursing home is a place that provides services to prosper and meet the needs of the elderly where caregivers are the key in social services therein. The nursing home in Bandung City does not set specific specifications for prospective caregivers so many of them are offered to work as caregivers. As a result, many caregivers try and only last a few months. There are 8 female caregivers who decide to become caregivers of their own free will and can last for years. This caregiver is willing to play a role and behave as a caregiver even though with a family background, the educational background is quite high compared to other caregivers and a productive age allows them to find other work with higher wages. Caregiver behavior is inseparable from the needs (needs) in him that encourage individuals to behave in certain ways. According to Murray, need to work interconnected with one another. The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical data on the profile needs of caregivers of elderly social care institutions in the village of Werdha in Bandung. Based on this, the Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS) test is used which uses 15 needs from Murray's theory. The results showed that the dominating needs are need affiliation, need nurturance and need endurance in the high category. Low needs are need change and heterosexual need.Keywords: Profile Needs, Caregiver, Tresna Werdha Social Institutions, Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS).Abstrak. Kota Bandung merupakan salah satu kota dengan permasalahan sosial lansia terlantar terbanyak di Jawa Barat. Panti sosial tresna werdha merupakan wadah yang memberikan pelayanan guna mensejahterakan dan memenuhi kebutuhan lansia dimana caregiver menjadi kunci dalam pelayanan sosial didalamnya. Panti werdha di Kota Bandung tidak menetapkan spesifikasi khusus untuk calon caregiver sehingga banyak dari mereka yang ditawari untuk bekerja sebagai caregiver. Akibatnya, banyak caregiver yang mencoba-coba dan hanya bertahan beberapa bulan saja. Terdapat 8 orang caregiver perempuan yang memutuskan untuk menjadi caregiver atas dasar keinginan sendiri dan dapat bertahan hingga bertahun-tahun. Caregiver ini bersedia berperan dan berperilaku sebagai caregiver padahal dengan latar belakang keluarga, latar belakang pendidikan yang cukup tinggi dibandingkan caregiver lainnya dan usia yang masih produktif memungkinkan mereka untuk mencari pekerjaan lain dengan upah yang lebih tinggi. Perilaku caregiver tidak terlepas dari kebutuhan (need) dalam dirinya yang mendorong individu untuk berperilaku tertentu. Menurut Murray, need bekerja saling berhubungan satu dengan yang lainnya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh data empirik mengenai profile needs pada caregiver lansia panti sosial tresna werdha di Kota Bandung. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, digunakan Tes Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS) yang menggunakan 15 needs dari teori Murray. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan needs yang mendominasi adalah need affiliation, need nurturance dan need endurance dalam kategori tinggi. Needs yang rendah yaitu need change dan need heterosexual.Kata Kunci: Profile Needs, Caregiver, Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha, Edward Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS). |
