Abstract. Worm infection is one of the infections that are generally spread in the world, especially in developing countries, one of which is Indonesia. As an agricultural country rich in natural resources, Indonesia has a variety of plants that have great potential to be utilized, including petai plants (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) which are widely grown and spread. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolites and determine the effective concentration of petai bark extract so that it has activity as an anthelmintic against adult pork roundworms and eggs in vitro. Tests were divided into 3 major groups, the test group (concentration of test extract 3%, 5% and 7%), the comparison group (pirantel pamoat and piperazin citrate for test towards adult worms and albendazole for test towards worm eggs), and the control group (NaCl 0.9% and CMC Na). The parameters seen were the form of paralysis and death of adult worms, and the percentage of inhibition of worm eggs. The results of the study were anthelmintic activity which was shown by petai peel extract against pork roundworms and their eggs at a concentration of 7% compared to the test concentrations of 3% and 5%, pirantel pamoat, piperazin citrate and albendazole. The conclusion of this study is that the petai fruit extract has anthelmintic activity against pork roundworms and their eggs.Keywords: Anthelmintics, Ascaris suum, Parkia speciosa. Abstrak. Infeksi cacing merupakan salah satu infeksi yang umumnya tersebar di dunia, terutama di negara berkembang salah satunya Indonesia. Sebagai salah satu negara agraris yang kaya akan sumber daya alam, Indonesia memiliki beragam tumbuhan yang berpotensi besar untuk dimanfaatkan, termasuk tanaman petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) yang banyak tumbuh dan tersebar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan metabolit sekunder dan menetapkan konsentrasi efektif dari ekstrak kulit buah petai sehingga memiliki aktivitas sebagai antelmintik terhadap cacing gelang babi dewasa dan telur secara in vitro. Pengujian dibagi dalam 3 kelompok besar, yaitu kelompok uji (konsentrasi ekstrak uji 3%, 5% dan 7%), kelompok pembanding (pirantel pamoat dan piperazin sitrat untuk pengujian terhadap cacing dewasa dan albendazol untuk pengujian telur cacing), dan kelompok control (NaCl 0,9% dan CMC Na). Parameter yang dilihat berupa bentuk paralisis dan kematian cacing dewasa, serta persen inhibisi terhadap telur cacing. Hasil penelitian berupa aktivitas antelmintik yang ditunjukan ekstrak kulit buah petai terhadap cacing gelang babi dan telurnya terdapat pada konsentrasi 7% yang dibandingkan dengan konsentrasi uji 3% dan 5%, pirantel pamoat, piperazin sitrat dan albendazol. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak kulit buah petai memiliki aktivitas antelmintik terhadap cacing gelang babi dan telurnya.Kata Kunci: Antelmintik, Ascaris suum, Parkia speciosa. |
