Abstract As a good economic condition, Bandung has encouraged the development of the hotel sector, including the presence of boarding businesses and apartment. The tightened competition between them has an impact on decreasing occupancy rates and the number of visitors at 1-star and non-star hotels. Business competition is not only dealing with fellow competitors of similar hotels, but also with the presence of potential competitors, the existence of substitute goods, suppliers of goods, as well as dealing with consumer preferences for him. To find out the competition, this qualitative descriptive research, using an analysis with the Porter's Five Force Model and strengthened using SWOT Analysis. As the results are the competition between companies, competition with potential competitors and consumer preferences shows a high level. While the existence of substitute goods and suppliers of goods is relatively low. Strengths and weaknesses like price, location, differentiation product, promotion among business actors, while the threat in competition arises from the role of the government, the potential competitors, the substitute goods, and the consumers. To improves and facing that competition, the hotels must improve the quality of service and make the different service who make the uniqueness to the threat of potential competitors.Keywords: Business Competition Strategy, Porter's Five Force Model, SWOT AnalysisAbstrak. Tingginya perekonomian di Kota Bandung telah mendorong berkembangnya sector perhotelan, termasuk hadirnya usaha kos dan pemilik apartemen yang telah memperketat persaingan diantara mereka. Persaingan yang semakin ketat berdampak pada penurunan tingkat hunian dan jumlah pengunjung di hotel bintang 1 dan non bintang. Persaingan usaha tidak hanya berhadapan dengan pesaing sesama hotel sejenis, tetapi juga dengan keberadaan pesaing potensial, adanya barang pengganti, para pemasok barang, serta berhadapan dengan preferensi konsumen terhadap dirinya. Untuk mengetahui persaingan usaha hotel bintang 1 dan non bintang tersebut, dalam penelitian deskriptif ini, akan dijawab menggunakan dianalisis dengan Porter’s Five Force Model dan diperkuat menggunakan Analisis SWOT. Dari hasil Five Force Model didapat bahwa persaingan antar perusahaan, persaingan dengan pesaing potensial serta preferensi konsumen menunjukkan tingkat persaingan tinggi. Sedangkan keberadaan barang pengganti dan pemasok barang relative rendah. Kekuatan dan kelemahan ditunjukkan dari kondisi persaingan diantara pelaku usaha, sedangkan ancaman dalam persaingan muncul dari peran pemerintah, keberadaan pesaing potensial, banyaknya barang pengganti, Sedangkan peluang adalah konsumen yang memutuskan menggunakan jasa hotel melalui informasi yang dilihat dalam promosi internet, daya tawar pemasok yang relative rendah. Maka dari itu pihak hotel meningkatkan kualitas layanan agar memiliki keunikan yang senantiasa dicari oleh konsumen.Kata Kunci: Strategi Persaingan Usaha, Five Force Model Porter, Analisis SWOT |
