Appendicitis is the most common cause of abdominal emergency that requiring immediate surgery. Untreated acute appendicitis may lead to complication such as perforation and mortality. Perforated appendicitis mostly suffered children and elderly. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship between age with perforated appendix. This research uses analytic observational method with case control approach. The subjects were acute appendicitis patients at RSUD Al Ihsan Bandung period 1 January until 31 December 2016. The subjects were divided into 7 age groups, 0 – 10 years, 11 – 20 years, 21 – 30 years, 31 – 40 years, 41 – 50 years, 51 – 60 years and >60 years. Result obtained from 272 patients, 151 (55.5%) with acute appendicitis and 121 (44.5%) with perforated appendicitis. Patient with perforated appendicitis higher in the 11 – 20 year age group (29.7%). Chi-Square test result showed that there is no significant relationship between age with perforated appendix at RSUD Al Ihsan Bandung in 2016. There might be other factors that are more determinative of perforated appendix compared with age as the treatment time of symptom onset which not investigated in this study so that there is no relationship. |

Apendisitis merupakan penyebab tersering kasus kegawatdaruratan abdomen yang membutuhkan pembedahan segera. Apendisitis akut jika tidak segera ditangani dapat menimbulkan komplikasi seperti perforasi dan angka mortalitasnya tinggi. Apendisitis perforasi lebih banyak pada anak-anak dan usia lanjut. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara usia dengan terjadinya perforasi pada apendisitis akut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasional analitik dengan pendekan kasus kontrol. Subjek penelitian adalah pasien apendisitis akut di RSUD Al Ihsan Bandung periode 1 Januari 2016 – 31 Desember 2016. Subjek penelitian dibagi menjadi 7 kelompok usia, 0 – 10 tahun, 11 – 20 tahun, 21 – 30 tahun, 31 – 40 tahun, 41 – 50 tahun, 51 – 60 tahun dan >60 tahun. Hasil yang diperoleh dari 272 pasien, 151 (55.5%) apendisitis akut dan 121 (44.5%) apendisitis perforasi. Pasien apendisitis perforasi lebih banyak pada kelompok usia 11 – 20 tahun (29,7%). Hasil uji Chi-Square menunjukan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna (P = 0,85) antara usia dengan terjadinya perforasi pada penderita apendisitis akut di RSUD Al Ihsan Bandung tahun 2016. Kemungkinan terdapat faktor lain yang lebih menentukan perforasi apendiks dibandingkan dengan usia seperti waktu penanganan dari onset gejala yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini sehingga tidak terdapat hubungan. |
