Abstract. Many adolescent gamers develop into addictive players and caused a lot of problems, because they are vulnerable to fall on addiction (Young & De Abreu, 2011). The appearance of playing online games is based on a motive called motive gaming. Knowing the motive can identify common symptoms of online game addiction behavior (Katalin, 2016). The purpose was to see the influence of motive gaming on online game addiction behavior among adolescent. The method used is a quantitative of causality involving 131 adolescents aged 15-18 years in Bandung who experience online game addiction selected through purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are the Online Game Addiction Scale for Adolescence and the Motive Of Online Gaming Questionnaire. Data analysis used is multiple linear regression. The results showed that motive gaming significant influence on online game addiction behavior among adolescent in Bandung. Motive gaming categories that have significant effect reinforces online game addiction behavior are social, escape, competition, coping and fantasy.Keywords: Motive Gaming, Online Game Addiction, Adolescent Gamers.Abstrak. Banyak bermunculan pemain game online yang mengalami adiksi dan menimbulkan berbagai masalah. Salah satunya usia remaja yang rentan mengalami adiksi game online (Young & De Abreu, 2011). Munculnya perilaku bermain game online didasari oleh motif yang disebut motif gaming. Mengetahui motif dapat menjadi identifikasi gejala umum perilaku adiksi game online (Katalin, 2016). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh motif gaming terhadap perilaku adiksi game online pada remaja. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif kausalitas terhadap 131 remaja usia 15-18 tahun di Kota Bandung yang mengalami adiksi game online yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Game Online Addiction Scale for Adolescence dan Motive for Online Gaming Questionnaire. Analisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa motif gaming memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap perilaku adiksi game online pada remaja Kota Bandung. Kategori motif gaming yang berpengaruh memperkuat perilaku adiksi game online yaitu motif social, escape, competition, coping dan fantasy.Kata Kunci: Motif Gaming, Adiksi Game Online, Gamers Remaja.
