Abstract. The number of unemployment has increased by 28,350 people in West Java Province in the recent year, indicating that unemployment is quite a serious problem. In 2017 until 2020, the highest rate of unemployment is among the SMK graduates (11,30%) who are supposedly work ready. The causes of unemployment are made up of external factors, such as scarce job opportunity, as well as internal factors, including students’ lack of work readiness influenced by their self esteem. The aim of this research is to examine the effect of self esteem on senior year students’ work readiness in public vocational school in Bandung. This research is conducted using a combination of causality method and quantitative approach. The samples of 395 students of SMKN 14 were chosen using cluster random sampling technique. Self esteem is measured using questionnaire. The questionnaire is constructed by Hasna and Anugerah (2017) based on the Coopersmith theory and work readiness measurement constructed by Dewi Sartika (2003) based on the Super theory. Simple regression testing technique is used to analyze the data. The result shows that self esteem significantly affects students’ work readiness with a significance rate of 0.000 < 0.05. The higher the self esteem, the higher the students’ work readiness.Keywords: Work Readiness, Unemployment, Self EsteemAbstrak. Pengangguran merupakan masalah yang sangat serius karena dalam setahun terakhir hingga tahun 2020 ini angka pengangguran bertambah 28,35 ribu orang di Jawa Barat. Sejak tahun 2017 sampai 2020 tingkat pengangguran paling tinggi terjadi pada lulusan SMK sebesar 11,30%, dimana seharusnya setelah lulus siswa SMK harus sudah siap bekerja. Selain karena faktor eksternal yaitu minimnya lapangan pekerjaan, pengangguran juga diakibatkan oleh faktor internal yaitu kurangnya kematangan karier dimana kurangnya kematangan karier dapat dipengaruhi oleh self esteem. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh Self Esteem terhadap Kematangan Karier pada siswa kelas XII SMKN di Kota Bandung. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kausalitas dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 395 siswa dari 14 SMKN yang terpilih berdasarkan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan berupa kuesioner untuk mengukur Self Esteem yang dikonstruk oleh Hasna dan Anugerah (2017) berdasarkan teori Coopersmith dan alat ukur Kematangan Karier yang dikonstruk oleh Dewi Sartika (2003) berdasarkan teori Super. Analisis data menggunakan teknik Uji Regresi Sederhana. Hasilnya terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara self esteem terhadap kematangan karier yang ditunjukan oleh tingkat signifikansi 0.000 < 0.05. Artinya semakin tinggi self esteem maka semakin tinggi pula kematangan kariernya.Kata Kunci: Kematangan Karier, Pengangguran, Self Esteem |
