Abstract. Toxicity tests are tests conducted by researchers to estimate the risks associated with exposure to chemicals under special conditions because it is known that no chemical can be said to be completely safe, because every chemical will be toxic at a certain dose level. Acute toxicity is a dangerous effect that occurs in a short time after drug administration within 24 hours. In some herbal medicines and various types of plants have an important role in the health field can even be a mainstay product for certain diseases. Natural herbal medicine has become an appreciation for ordinary people along with the many facts that herbal medicine has minimal side effects compared to chemical drugs. Based on the results of this literature study, the results show that some plants that use BSLT test animals are toxic, non-toxic in those who use vetebrate test animals or zebrafish also mice and those who use rat test animals have cytotoxic activity.Keywords: Acute toxicity, toxic, cytotoxic activityAbstrak. Uji toksisitas merupakan uji yang dilakukan peneliti untuk memperkirakan resiko yang berkaitan dengan pemaparan zat kimia dalam kondisi khusus karena diketahui bahwa tidak ada satupun zat kimia yang dapat dikatakan aman sepenuhnya, karena setiap zat kimia akan bersifat toksik pada tingkat dosis tertentu. Toksisitas akut merupakan efek berbahaya terjadi pada waktu singkat setelah pemberian obat dalam waktu 24 jam. Pada beberapa obat herbal dan berbagai macam tumbuhan memiliki peran penting dalam bidang kesehatan bahkan bisa menjadi sesuatu produk andalan pada penyakit tertentu. Obat herbal alami telah menjadi apresiasi bagi masyarakat awam seiring dengan banyaknya fakta muncul bahwa obat herbal memiliki minimal efek samping dibandingkan dengan obat kimia. Berdasarkan hasil studi literatur ini didapatkan hasil yang menyatakan bahwa beberapa tumbuhan yang menggunakan hewan uji BSLT bersifat toksik, tidak toksik pada yang menggunakan hewan uji vetebrata atau ikan zebra juga mencit dan yang menggunakan hewan uji tikus ada yang memiliki aktivitas sitotoksik.Kata kunci: Toksisitas akut, toksik, aktivitas sitotoksik. |
