Abstract. Obesity is a disorder that involves the amount of excess body fat which increases the risk of health problems and various diseases. The 2014 Word Health Organization (WHO) stated that in 2008 the world obesity rate was 11.9%. Obesity can be caused by genetic or environmental factors. Besides, psychological factors also play a role as a trigger for obesity. In some people, overeating can occur in response to feelings of stress, depression, or anxiety. Students are one of the populations with a fairly high level of stress, for this reason, researchers are interested in examining the relationship between stress and obesity in students of the Faculty of Medicin Bandung Islamic University. This research was conducted in the period February‒November 2020 by visiting student residences which still follows health protocol to assess student body weight and height data and using a questionnaire to assess stress on students of the Unisba Faculty of Medicine for the 2019‒2020 academic year. The sampling technique was carried out by random sampling. Statistical analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed that students who experienced stress (mild, moderate, and severe) were more than without stress (63% vs 37%) and the majority of students had normal nutritional status (74%) than obesity (26%). There was a significant relationship between stress and obesity in students (p=0.041). In conclution, there is a relationship between stress levels and obesity in students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Bandung for the 2019‒2020 school year.Key words: Faculty of Medicine students, obesity, stressAbstrak.
