Abstract. Acute otitis media (AOM) is inflammation of the middle ear that lasts up to three weeks. Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenza cause about 50-90% of cases of AOM. Topical ciprofloxacin is often used to treat AOM in perforated stadiums. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of topical ciprofloxacin in patients with AOM. This research is a Scoping Review, by searching for articles from the PubMed, Springer Link, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases. Articles that match the inclusion criteria were 415 articles and 408 articles were included in the exclusion criteria. After a critical appraisal was conducted, six articles were reviewed. This research was conducted in the period March-December 2020. The results of the study and analysis of six articles, there were three articles which stated that the administration of topical ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone was better than single topical ciprofloxacin, fluocinolone, and ofloxacin. One article stated that topical ciprofloxacin/dexamethasone was superior to oral amoxicillin/clavulanic acid in reducing clinical symptoms, but did not differ in microbiological eradication. In addition, there are two articles showing that administering topical ciprofloxacin has no different effect when compared to normal topical saline and cortisporin. The conclusion of this study was that topical ciprofloxacin/corticosteroid gave better results than other interventions, whereas topical ciprofloxacin alone gave an effect that was not significantly different from normal saline and topical cortisporin.Key words: Acute otitis media, ototopical antibiotic, topical ciprofloxacinAbstrak. Otitis media akut (OMA) adalah peradangan telinga tengah yang berlangsung hingga tiga minggu. Streptococcus pneumoniae dan Haemophilus influenza menyebabkan sekitar 50-90% kasus OMA. Siprofloksasin topikal sering digunakan untuk mengobati OMA pada stadium perforasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis efektivitas siprofloksasin topikal pada pasien OMA. Penelitian ini merupakan Scoping Review, dengan mencari artikel dari database PubMed, Springer Link, Science Direct, dan Google Scholar. Artikel yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi sebanyak 415 artikel dan yang termasuk dalam kriteria eksklusi sebanyak 408 artikel. Setelah dilakukan telaah kritis, artikel yang lolos sebanyak enam artikel. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada periode Maret-Desember 2020. Hasil telaah dan analisis enam artikel, terdapat tiga artikel yang menyatakan bahwa pemberian sediaan topikal siprofloksasin/deksametason lebih baik dibanding sediaan topikal siprofloksasin, fluokinolon, dan ofloksasin. Satu artikel menyatakan bahwa sediaan topikal siprofloksasin/deksametason lebih baik dibanding sediaan oral amoksisilin/asam klavulanat dalam mengurangi gejala klinisnya, namun tidak berbeda bermakna pada eradikasi mikrobiologis. Selain itu, terdapat dua artikel yang menunjukkan bahwa pemberian siprofloksasin topikal tidak memberikan efek yang berbeda ketika dibanding normal saline dan kortisporin topikal. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah siprofloksasin/kortikosteroid topikal memberikan hasil yang lebih baik daripada intervensi lain, sedangkan siprofloksasin topikal tunggal memberikan efek yang tidak berbeda dengan normal saline dan kortisporin topikal.Kata kunci: Antibiotik ototopikal, otitis media akut, siprofloksasin topikal |
